Yesterday, I wasn’t sure if I got my first proposal of bf/gf or marriage, but either way it was definitely turned down. Now that that has been established, I think Issa will be a very good friend. I hope he is anyway. I brought his father some medicine for his back, and in turn, they were very nice to me. I will go back over there later.

It’s still very difficult getting a handle on wolof. But today, it was much easier than the first. I understand a lot more, and I’m not confusing french and wolof (qui and kii??). I have a much firmer understanding of sentences, but I still forget to use certain words. The grammar will come with practice. Yesterday, Sookey (sp??) helped me with my homework. I also wnet back over all the names of the women: Ami, Umi, Marieme, Adia, Sooky, Umi. I think that’s in the right order. And mama is Oomi. Of the boys, I know Moussa, Ablii, and Gerard. He is the littlest guy, and he is obsessed with my listerine breathe spray. He sits next to me and on me hoping for an extra spray. So I give him one a day.

There is a soap opera going on here that everyone is watching but me. So I need to start watching it. I think my family watches it. I don’t because my room is on the far end of the house at the entrance and I don’t see what everyone else is doing all the time. My family is very nice, I asked mama if I could put my moustiquere (sp?) or mosquito net. she relented.

Last night I hung out with Julia and Ulyse (Pronounced “uleese”). That was a good time. And in my free time I read. Right now, I’m reading “Crime and Punishment.” It has a very dark feel to it.
